Thus, Europe is trying to limit the record rise in fuel prices
The European Commission is in talks with Russia to buy emergency natural gas reserves on behalf of the EU, trying to limit record fuel price increases, the British newspaper The Telegraph reported on Monday, citing European Union sources.
The process is planned to be similar to previous experience with the strategic mass purchase of coronavirus vaccines for the whole union in order to seek lower prices, reports BNR. Spain is believed to be pushing for such a decision, with France, Greece and the Czech Republic also expressing full support for such action.
On Wednesday, the European Commission is expected to publish its “toolkit” for national governments to help limit the impact of the pressure provoked by high gas prices.
A week earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said the Kremlin was ready to supply more oil and natural gas to stabilize fuel markets.
