The Culture Hall celebrates every year in the month of March a “birthday” through the “Winter Festival”. This year will also mark the 66th anniversary of the establishment of the Culture Hall, but this year, under the influence of the atmosphere of the war’s victims, it is called by a gentler name – “Winter Sounds” instead of the word “Festival”. This was announced by the CEO of the Cultural Center, Dalit Koren, at a press conference she held today.
For four days, March 13 to 16, 15 performances will take place in the three halls of the Culture Hall. Dalit Koren proudly noted that the concert hall of the Culture Hall is visited by about a million people a year.
Dalit Koren said: “In times of crisis, culture is the first to shut down. Despite the difficulty, we decided to return to a cultural routine as soon as the Home Front Command lifted the restrictions.” She presented a series of shows and fundraising events that took place recently at the Culture Hall, all the proceeds of which were donated to the reconstruction of settlements in the Gaza Strip. The CEO presented photographs of the culture hall wrapped in yellow pipes with the symbol of longing for the return of the abducted.
The deputy director of the Philharmonic Orchestra, Yair Mashiach, presented the various performances with winter sounds, in which more than 90 musicians of the orchestra will also participate. He said that after October 7, the songs sound a little different. Sadder than before.
Maestro Tom Cohen gave the journalists a “taste” of the performance of 5 string players and a pianist, with whom Aviahu Medina played his song “Don’t throw us away in old age”.
The opening performance of Winter Sounds will be “The Flower in the Garden” with Aviahu Medina accompanied by 80 musicians from the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by maestro Tom Cohen. The show will be dedicated to the Mediterranean singer, among the songs that will be performed in the show: “The flower in my garden”, “We parted like this”, Shadow of a date palm”, “Right for today”, “Ringing bells”, “Sea of tears”, “Night without a star” and more. In the show It will also be attended by Avner Gadsi, Nofer Shalman, Shimi Tabori, Esther Rada, and Bar Tsaviri.
Among the many shows, we can also see “40 years for a woman with me”, where David Broza will host Avraham Tal, Margul and Shira Gefen. We will also be able to see the debut performance “Father, a story”, by Shiri Aviv and Yonatan Gefen, accompanied by a grand piano and the Philharmonic Orchestra. Efrat Ghosh will perform a jazz show accompanied by a band of 6 musicians. The two giants of music, Yoni Rechter and Eli Djiberi, in a duet for piano and saxophone. Creator and singer Marina Maximilian will perform with her best repertoire. “Hebrews” will present a new show of Shoshana Demari’s songs and inspired by her character, with guest Leah Shabbat. There will also be a show of French chansons “baguette” with songs by Edith Piaf and Jacques Berel. There will be more intriguing performances that involve the desecration of the Sabbath, so we cannot enjoy them.
The closing show will be dedicated to Korin Alel, who concludes a 50-year career. Its title: “Friends singing Korin”. The musical direction of Eran Tzur, who has been producing her since the beginning of her career, and the artistic direction of Haim Shemesh. Avitar Banai, Assaf Amdorski, Arik Sinai, Berry Sakharof, Hila Rouch, Nega Erez, Alma Gov, Eran Tzur and Karolina will also participate in this appreciation evening.
Every evening, about an hour and a half before the start of the shows in the hall’s porticos, musical groups will perform live and a historical exhibition will be launched – 66 years of culture in the hall.
Dalit Koren added that these days they are working on producing an exhibition of historical photos from the 66 years of the Culture Hall. She expects that the preparations will be completed and the exhibition will open to the public in March, at the same time as the opening of Winter Sounds events.
