The Tehuisgemeente: A Church Founded out of Conflict with the Orthodox Church

This group of people was not thanked by many Orthodox Church members for their willingness to resolve the conflict. In fact, Reverend Van der Ziel was himself expelled from the liberated church. With a group of followers he founded a new church, the Tehuisgemeente. According to Joop Vogel, a historian from Groningen who wrote a book about this schism, such an explicit rejection played a role not only within the church itself, but also more broadly in the liberated pillar.
