Strengthening the employability of students, this is the objective of the training company (ee) inaugurated on Sunday 20 November at the Higher Institute of Technological Studies (ISET) in Djerba, on the sidelines of the 18th Francophonie Summit. This is the second within an ISET and the first in Tunisia, specialized in tourism.
This project funded by Swiss cooperation in collaboration with Swisscontact “aims to train operational students from day one once they are hired,” said Néjib Bouabidi, director of ISET Djerba at Mosaïque FM.
“The Teem” (the name chosen for this ee) is a fictitious company but which has all the characteristics of a real company except that the student does not receive a salary, adds Mr. Bouabidi.
Every year 500 students at all levels come to the company.
For Willi Graf, director of cooperation at the Swiss embassy in Tunisia, which finances the project, “this experience is extremely advantageous for young people as it allows them to carry out work like in a real company, which makes the difference with other forms of education,” he says.
“What matters is achievement for these student interns and the ability to find employment in the field of their choice,” Graf said. And to add “we measure our success mainly in the number of people who are hired with a reasonable salary and decent working conditions”.
“The teem” is part of a network of similar companies around the world (more than 7000 ee in 45 countries), it is a company used as a training center where the learners are real employees who exercise professional functions while having a very personalized accompaniment.
In Tunisia, ee are supervised by ReeT, (Tunisian ee network). There are eight in total, including two more in ISET.
The ReeT ensures the certification of executives, supervisors and trained people, with a “Swiss brand” recognized and highly valued by employers.
