The Teatro Expresión play “Between the feather and the blood”, framed in the theater of memory, will remain on the billboard until December

A large crowd has gathered at the Veteranos del 79 Hall in recent weeks to see the latest premiere of the Expresión University Theatre, the play “Entre la Pluma y la Sangre”, written by the Iquique playwright Iván Vera-Pinto and featuring music by the urban troubadour Harold Hurtado.

The play will be on display every Friday and Saturday until December, starting at 8:00 p.m. The spectator will be able to connect with a time of great upheaval in Chile, which was felt here in the city and the saltpeter pampas. It was the 1930s, when the movement of the saltpeter workers made their demands visible and exposed the labor injustices to which they were subjected.

In this struggle, the workers’ press plays a fundamental role through various publications, the emblematic one being the newspaper “El Despertar de los trabajadores”, founded by Luis Emilio Recabarren.

In fact, “Between the Pen and the Blood” emphasizes the role of the workers’ press in times of social upheaval, and how workers are silenced, even with death, for fighting that battle.

Special mention for the cast, which has been on the stage of the Teatro Expresión for several years, giving their best. Which is not easy, because doing theatre requires great dedication, time, concentration and sacrifices.

Also worth mentioning is the incorporation of Harold Hurtado into the theatre company, which has helped it to strengthen itself by putting his talents at the service of the theatre of memory, which is the line that Iván Vera-Pinto has been working on.

Harold Hurtado, with no direct experience in theatre, has stage presence and a privileged voice. He also sets the texts to music and performs them, thereby expressing the artist’s sensitivity and commitment.

The public may have different opinions about the staging of the play, but what better way to form an opinion than by seeing it.
