The team captain left Örebro earlier today – ready for games in Djurgården

Stefan Warg came to Örebro from Malmö during the second half of the season 18/19 and for the past two years he has been the club’s team captain.

Örebro has taken ground during Warg’s years at the club, but earlier today it was clear that the parties had decided to break the agreement.

But the 31-year-old remains in the SHL.

Just hours after the news became official, Warg is now ready for in Djurgården, the club announces.

– We are happy to be able to add Stefan to our back set. In him we get a player with good leadership qualities and defensive playing strength, as well as a player who is fully up and running with his season, says sports director Joakim Eriksson in a press release.

Warg has made seven seasons in the SHL and four years in the Hockeyallsvenskan. 13/14 he made a season in North America for the AHL team Norfolk Admirals.

Earlier today, Djurgården got rid of the American Matt Lorito and the team has had a tough start to the season.

The Stockholm team is second last in the SHL with five points up to Linköping at the top of the table.
