MAINTAL – From September there will again be special films on the big screen in the community center in Bischofsheim in Maintal. The new season begins on September 21 with “The Teacher’s Room” and “My Fabulous Crime”. Then, once a month on a Thursday at 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m., two different films are on the program.
The series of events “Cinema on site” is organized by the cultural office of the city of Maintal, which is supported by the “Maintal kulturell” city model group. The mobile cinema of Cine-Max GmbH from Hanau takes care of the technical implementation. Maintaler* do not have to travel long distances to experience current films on the big screen.
Awarded the Golden Lola: “The Teacher’s Room”
At the start of the new season, the organizers have selected the winning film at the German Film Awards for the screening at 5.30 p.m. The film focuses on a young, dedicated teacher who has only recently started teaching mathematics and physical education at a school. The new colleague finds herself in a difficult situation when repeated thefts lead to strict measures of follow-up, suspicion and prejudice. On her own she tries to identify the perpetrator. The story is exciting and touching at the same time. Using the example of school conflicts, the film paints a contemporary picture of our society.
French crime comedy: “My fabulous crime”
At 8 p.m., the French crime comedy “My fabulous crime” by François Ozon is an amusing story from Paris in the 1930s. A young, hitherto unsuccessful actress is suspected of murder. Her court appearances and her friend’s persuasive arguments made her famous. An aging silent film diva, played by Isabelle Huppert, wants to share in the success and claims a new version of the crime. In the style of a tabloid comedy and with an opulent setting, the film also makes references to phenomena of our time. With irony and exaggeration, however, he tells above all how women were able to achieve their goals in a male-dominated society.
Admission is half an hour before the start. Tickets are available at the box office for eight euros.
