The teachers of “Golden Raspberries” are involved in a scandal by nominating a 12-year-old girl as the worst actress

Armstrong was nominated in that category this week for her performance in “Firestarter.”

It is known that the “Golden Raspberry” award was created as the opposite of the Academy Award “Oscar”. Usually, “Golden Raspberries” are awarded the day before the “Oscar” awards are presented. “Golden Raspberries” are presented to “the best of the worst in the film industry”.

Taking into account that Armstrong is only 12 years old, such a move by the organizers of the anti-award has caused outrage.

“Sometimes you do things without thinking. Then you get reprimanded for it. Then you realize it. That’s why the Golden Raspberries were created in the first place,” anti-prize co-founder John B. Wilson said in a statement Wednesday.

“The recent well-founded criticism of 11-year-old Armstrong’s nomination for one of our awards has brought to our attention how insensitive we have been in this case,” the statement said. “As a result, we have removed Armstrong’s name from the final vote. We also believe that Armstrong deserves a public apology and want to say that we are sorry for the hurt she has experienced because of our choice.”

The organizers indicate that in the future only those who have reached the age of 18 will be nominated for the anti-prize.

“It was never our intention to derail anyone’s career. That’s why our ‘Golden Raspberry Redemption Award’ was created,” the statement said. The “Redemption” award is given to an actor who previously received or was nominated for the “Golden Raspberry”, but later demonstrated excellent acting skills, thus supposedly “regaining respect”.
