The tax authorities will reveal through the bank accounts the people who are not insured –

/ world today news/ The tax authorities should be able to reveal through the bank accounts the people who do not have health insurance, even though they have income. This new measure against unscrupulous payers is proposed by Finance Minister Petar Chobanov, it is clear from his written answer to a question by GERB MP and former Health Minister Desislava Atanasova.

For this purpose, he insists that legislative changes be made, with which the tax authorities will get access to the information on open and closed accounts of Bulgarians in the treasuries in our country. Chobanov proposes further amendments to provide the NRA with access to the credit register of the BNB, writes “Monitor”.

“At the moment, there are paradoxical cases of socially weak people receiving benefits and at the same time having significant incomes and cash sums in bank accounts or repaying loans of significant sizes”, the number 1 financier motivated his proposals for tightening control.

At the moment, they can only monitor whether bank accounts are opened and closed for companies, but not for individuals. This is done daily through a special electronic system, with which, however, data on the availability of the accounts is not submitted, because this is subject to banking secrecy. The same tracking for individual citizens can be allowed through the changes in the Tax-Insurance Procedural Code, which will be considered in the Parliament. In the initial version of the amendments, such a possibility is not foreseen, but according to experts, it can be settled between the first and second reading of the normative act.

The other proposal for NRA access to the credit register of the BNB would also help to uncover tax fraud. “For example, there are cases of persons who pay a loan of BGN 1,000 per month, but in recent years they have not received a penny of official income,” commented the revenue agency.
