Hitekno.com – The latest report states that sky phenomenon meteor Rain Tau-Herculids will occur on Monday and Tuesday (30-31/5/2022).
Don’t miss the opportunity to witness the phenomenon of the rainy sky meteor tonight.
As reported by Suara.com, this event has the potential to become a meteor storm because 1,000 meteors per hour will be observed on Monday.
Meteor shower originating from Comet 73P/Schwassmann-Wachmann 3, can be watched online through a live broadcast organized by the Virtual Telescope Project.
The live broadcast will be led by Gianluca Masi, an astrophysicist, in Ceccano, Italy.
The free live broadcast will begin on May 31, 2022 at 12 a.m. EDT.
Another alternative option, observers can watch from the Virtual Telescope Project website.
Comet 73P/Schwassmann-Wachmann 3 was first discovered in 1930 and orbits the Sun every 5.4 years, each 5.7 million miles apart.
However, it is not certain that the meteor shower that falls to Earth will also contain gas from Comet 73P/Schwassmann-Wachmann 3.
Bill Cooke, a NASA astronomer who tracks meteor showers at the Marshall Space Flight Center, said it all depends on the speed of matter from the comet.
“If debris from SW 3 travels at more than 220 miles per hour when it separates from the comet, we might see a nice meteor shower.,” said Cooke, quoted from Space.com, Monday (30/5/2022).
To observe Tau-Herculids meteor shower more clearly, observers should watch it in a location free from light pollution and the sky in clear conditions.
That’s the sky phenomenon of the Tau-Herculids meteor shower that occurred tonight and can be observed. (Suara.com/ Lintang Siltya Utami).
