the Tarentaise Baroque Festival rises crescendo

On the theme “Passages”, the 31e edition of the Tarentaise Baroque Festival will take place from July 25 to August 14. Faced with increased demand from sites, the Festival will offer twenty dates this summer (instead of the usual 14). “The towns of Moûtiers and Albertville are the two historical partners of the festival and are hosting two and three concerts respectively this summer. But it is necessary to underline the growing support of the Communities of communes which seek to deploy a cultural offer on the whole of their territories, including in favor of the smallest or the most remote villages. It’s a great flight, ”underlines President Josette-Elise Tatin.

This is how the whole Haute Tarentaise will be covered by concerts. “’Passage’ is a word that resonates in Savoie: how many people each year pass through the Tarentaise valley, taking its passes, its tunnels, its ski lifts? The landscape of this border and tourist region bears the marks of these infrastructures between Tarentaise and Maurienne, Tarentaise and Beaufortain, Tarentaise and Italy. However, for those who leave the beaten track and for those who take the time to look, other older, less visible paths have also shaped the history and the landscape of the region. These paths are those taken today by the curious, nature lovers and heritage enthusiasts: you, no doubt, festival listeners, ”says artistic director Jean-Luc Hyvoz.

Several new features are on the program

The President also announces many new features, in this case a return to the Church of the Holy Trinity in Peisey-Nancroix on August 7 with the ensemble of La Chapelle Rhénane and the Quatuor 1781 for an interpretation of the Requiem by Mozart. Also young talents such as “Les Emissaires”, “La Palatine” and “Into the Winds”, “the latter two being from the “Emerging” system developed by the Center Culturel de Rencontre d’Ambronay, which will also object of a first partnership between the Ambronay Festival and the town of Moutiers through the intermediary of the “Coeur de Tarentaise” Urban Community and the Tarentaise Baroque Festival,” explains Élise Tatin.

Two conferences will also be offered: one in Moutiers on Monday August 8 on the theme “In the land of passages, the masters of the passes” and the other in Séez on Sunday August 14 on the theme “Crossing the Alps: from the imperial of Gaul to the fortune of the House of Savoy”. Free conferences on registration because places are limited. There are also “Behind the scenes at the Festival” with the Facim, special moments with the musicians and the artistic director: Wednesday August 3 at Bozel “story(ies) along the water”; Sunday August 7 in Peisey-Nancroix “The amazing story of the Peisey organ”; Wednesday August 10 in Beaufort “Beaufort, a golden age at the 17e et 18e centuries?” As well as a musical walk on Friday 29 July in the exceptional setting of the listed village of Monal “The mountain vibrates to the sounds of the old brass instruments of the InAlto ensemble”.

An invitation to follow the side roads.
