This is what was sanctioned by the judges of the first section of the administrative court of Largo San Tommaso (president Salvatore Mezzacapo) who, seven years after the appeal, have published the sentence in the last few days following the council meeting held on 6 November.
The checks

How will the recent court decision impact the relationship between the Municipality of Salerno and Soget S.p.A. in terms of tax collection practices?
Guest 1: Stefano Guerriero, Mayor of Salerno Municipality
Guest 2: Maria Lima, CEO of Soget S.p.A.
Website Editor: Good morning, Mayor Guerriero. Can you please shed some light on the recent decision made by the Administrative Court of Largo San Tommaso, which has calculated additional charges twice for defaulters of municipal taxes? How has this decision affected your administration’s efforts to collect taxes from citizens?
Mayor Guerriero: The decision by the Administrative Court has undermined our efforts to collect outstanding taxes from citizens in an efficient and transparent manner. The issue revolves around the calculation of additional charges for tax defaulters, which were initially calculated by the Tax Office and then doubled by the collection service provider, Soget. Our concern is that this practice has led to confusion and potential overcharging of citizens who are already struggling to pay their taxes. We are exploring all legal avenues to rectify this situation and ensure that taxpayers are not disadvantaged in any way.
Website Editor: Thank you for your insight, Mayor Guerriero. Ms. Lima, as the CEO of Soget S.p.A., could you please explain the company’s role in managing the collection of municipal taxes in Salerno and discuss the nature of the deficiencies highlighted by the Municipality related to the concession agreement?
Ms. Lima: As the service provider, our responsibility is to collect municipal taxes on behalf of the Municipality of Salerno. We use a sophisticated software system to calculate and manage these payments. The recent court decision found that there were some discrepancies in how additional charges were applied to tax defaulters, and these were attributed to errors made by our system. We are in the process of reviewing our procedures to ensure that such errors do not occur in the future. It’s important to note that these discrepancies did not result in any financial gain for our company, as the additional charges were paid to the Municipality of Salerno.
Website Editor: Understood. Additionally, what steps is Soget taking to rectify the situation and regain the trust of taxpayers and the Municipality?
