The Tar ruling does not stop Jole Santelli

A few hours after the Tar’s decision, which he has the order of the President of the Region ‘rejected’, which in recent days had given the green light to the service at outdoor tables for bars, restaurants, patisseries and farm holidays, the governor Jole Santelli has taken over the project “Riparti Calabria” and, with a new ordinance, added another piece to the difficult path to a return to normal.

From Sunday 10 May, therefore, in Calabria it is possible to reach the second houses, together with only one member of the family, for maintenance works and with the obligation to return to the same home in the same evening; you can shop with multiple members of the same family, same thing for visiting the cemeteries; Sports are also allowed in structures and clubs but in open spaces, with a maximum of two people living together and with mandatory return on the same day; animal breeding and training; research and collection of spontaneous products from the earth (non-woody plants, fruits, epigean mushrooms and truffles); grooming, by appointment, for pets and companionship at authorized establishments.

Finally, the regional ordinance reaffirms the mandatory use of masks for all subjects who go to one of the permitted activities and in any case in any situation where interpersonal distance is not guaranteed. Similarly, hygiene measures and precautions must be strictly observed. In any case, any form of assembly is prohibited.

Meanwhile, however, the green light to the service at outdoor tables for bars and restaurants, blocked on Saturday afternoon with the Tar ruling, has opened a political front of controversy especially between majority and opposition, to the Government and to the Calabria Region, but not only. TO Cosenza, the only Calabrian capital city where commercial activities had followed up on the regional ordinance, exhibitors criticize the blockade and are very much ready to move forward.

This morning the owner of a bar, in an area of the center, chained herself in protest: “We spent our last money – he said in front of journalists, cameramen and onlookers – to adapt our restaurant to the rules for service to the open. Now who repays us? They use us like a pair of shoes, first they take us out and then put us back in the closet. But we – he added almost in tears – are honest people who just want to work, we are families, we cannot pay the accounts of political clashes. It is absolutely not fair. “

Controversy and protests aside, Calabria, between phase 2 and phase 3, comes to terms with an economic and social recovery that is particularly tough. The Region has allocated 120 million euros to finance businesses, with non-refundable contributions, but obviously it cannot be enough to cope with the economic damage caused by two months of downtime.

At the gates, then, there is a summer season, awaited by many operators for a breath of oxygen in their cases, still to be written. In all this, the only positive notes come from the numbers of the infection, from a week between 0 and 5, and from the number of “red zones”, which has gone from 15 to 1. After all, for now, the best news.
