The Tapteng Regency Government held polio PINs simultaneously in 25 health centers

The Central Tapanuli District Government held a Polio National Immunization Sub Week (Sub-PIN) activity, simultaneously in all health care facilities.

Simultaneous immunizations began on February 13, 2023, at 25 puskesmas in Central Tapanuli District, where the Kick Off implementation was directly monitored online by the Head of the Central Tapanuli District Health Office.

Head of the Central Tapanuli District Health Office Nursyam, after seeing the health service facilities, Sunday (12/02) said that the activities of the National Immunization Sub Week (Sub-PIN) which will be held simultaneously on Monday (13/02) in all health services, is an effort to break the chain of transmission of Polio in Central Tapanuli District.

“Following up on the instructions of the Acting Regent of Central Tapanuli Elfin Elyas, who advised all levels of the Health Service to continue to improve health services to the community. One form of this service is that we carry out the Polio National Immunization Sub Week (Sub-PIN) by holding twice rounds,” Nursyam said.

Still he said, the first round would be held from 13 to 19 February 2023. The second round would be held from 13 to 19 March 2023, the Polio drops could be obtained free of charge at Posyandu, Health Centers, Schools and other Immunization Posts in Central Tapanuli District.

“Children aged 0-59 months at least get Polio drops so they can form immunity from Polio Virus attack,” he said

According to him, polio is a dangerous infectious disease, which can cause paralysis, lifelong disability, and even death. Polio is spread through water and food contaminated with feces containing the Polio Virus.

The impact of the polio virus can cause permanent paralysis in children. If prevention efforts are not carried out quickly and massively for all target ages, it has the potential to infect others.

“If there are children aged 0 to under 15 years who suddenly experience paralysis/weakness in their hands or feet, we urge them to immediately report them to health workers at health facilities in Central Tapanuli Regency,” he said.

He continued, to all the people of Central Tapanuli Regency, let’s get used to a Clean and Healthy Lifestyle, such as completing routine immunizations for children aged 0-24 months, washing hands with soap, don’t defecate (BAB) in the open, drinks and food are cooked until cooked.

“Let’s make this Polio National Immunization Sub Week in Central Tapanuli District a success. Polio cannot be treated, it can only be prevented with Polio drops, we give it free to children aged 0-59 months to avoid Polio disease,” he said.
