Irena Buivydaitė-Kupčinskienė, a favorite of the people of Alytis, and Jolita Herlyn, a virtuoso of life stories, turn out to be great co-authors of one of the authors of the most read books in Lithuania, who very often find themselves in the first positions of the ranking table. April 19 at 5 p.m. They will present their debut novel “Atgimusi Melodija” at the Jurgis Kunčinas Public Library in Alytus (Seirijų str. 2). The conversation between the two will be moderated by another well-known writer, Gina Viliūnė.
“The idea for the book arose at the 2023 Vilnius Book Fair, when Jolita and I were sitting in a beautiful, tastefully furnished, cozy niche of the publishing house “Alma littera” under large portraits of ourselves. In the breaks between communicating with readers and signing our books, we talked about the fact that we think alike, and sometimes without consulting each other we write almost the same thoughts, we choose similar twists and turns in the lives of our characters, even names”, – Irena Buivydaitė Kupčinskienė reveals how the idea of writing a novel together came about.
About the novel: Just as an ordinary trip to Denmark becomes a fateful crossroads for Dagnei. A melody suddenly heard in a small cafe awakens memories of a long-lost friend who seems to have disappeared into the water. Where is Magna now? How did her fate unfold?
