The Taliban’s Interim Government Cabinet Makes International Concern

ACCEPTANCE – A number of countries voiced concern over the composition of the new interim government Afghanistan which is formed Taliban . The interim government was considered to have ignored the inclusiveness and political rights of women.

The Supreme Secretary of Iran’s National Security Council, Ali Shamkhani, said ignoring the need to form an inclusive government was Iran’s main concern. This was expressed in a tweet reported by the Iranian news agency, IRNA.

Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said his country hopes the political situation in Afghanistan is stabilized as early as possible, towards normalcy.

Addressing regional leaders in Islamabad on Wednesday (8/9/2021), Qureshi said priorities for Afghanistan’s neighbor include supporting the Afghan people and embracing the importance of national reconciliation and the country’s multi-ethnic makeup.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said China was willing to stay in touch with Afghanistan’s new leadership but also showed that minority rights should be respected.

“We hope that the new Afghan regime, during the interim administration period, will listen to the opinions of all ethnic groups and parties, and respond to the expectations of the Afghan people and the international community,” he said.

“We noticed that the Taliban emphasized that everyone would benefit from the new regime,” he added CNN.

German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said the Taliban’s actions did not inspire optimism because Germany was assessing how to help the Afghan people amid food shortages, aid cuts and the threat of economic collapse.
