Afghan in the capital Kabul since Sunday, August 15, is a Taliban militant has entered the Islamist groupi. The group controls virtually the entire country, and many were surprised at how quickly it managed to take control and how quickly the resistance collapsed.
At their first press conference in Kabul on Tuesday, the group said everyone had been amnestied and that no one who had worked in government, fought the Taliban or collaborated with foreign forces and organizations would be persecuted.
However, information published in a confidential document suggests that the Taliban are arresting those interested and threatening to arrest or kill their family members unless they surrender themselves, writes the BBC. The document was prepared by the Norwegian Center for Global Analysis, which provides the UN with intelligence.
Those who have held positions in the army, police and investigative bodies are mainly at risk.
The Taliban had already collected personal data before the country’s largest cities were occupied, the document said. The group is also building its own network of informants.
The militants are also screening people who want to evacuate through Kabul airport. It is known that not everyone is passed on. Although Kabul airport is controlled by US troops, all exterior access routes are controlled by the Taliban.
Meanwhile, news of protests against the Taliban coming to power continues to come on Thursday. An action has already been reported on Wednesday in Jalalabad, where the Taliban have used weapons to disperse the demonstration and shot several protesters.
On Thursday, in several cities, people took to the streets with Afghan national flags and flag-colored posters – this day also marks the 102nd anniversary of Afghanistan’s declaration of independence.
See this video of a protest in eastern Afghanistan in support of the flag of the (former?) Afghan State ???????? which the Taliban have been taking down in some places… keep watching to the end for the huge Taliban convoy arriving straight after. Unclear what happened next… pic.twitter.com/uArhC6yBCa

People with black-green-red flags are seen in Kabul. Several people have died in a similar protest in Assadabad, Reuters reports. The cause of their death is either bullets fired by militants or crushed into a crowd that has been pushed there by shooting.
Social media videos show people in various places have tried to remove Taliban flags.
