Problems with bad weather in Europe continue. The tail of Tropical Hurricane Kirk passed through Portugal, France and Spain. At the moment, the disaster is over Scandinavia, but it is expected to pass over Bulgaria within the framework of today. Climatologist Simeon Matev said this in the studio of “Hello, Bulgaria”, reports NOVA.
A wind gust of 225 km/h was measured in Portugal. “This is a much shorter-lived phenomenon than Milton, it occupies a much smaller area and the energy of the storm itself is smaller,” said the climatologist.
According to him, the Florida area is a magnet for storms like Milton. “The hurricane is already in history, but the analysis and preparation for the next such disaster is beginning. With hurricanes there is always a surprise. They never proceed as predicted,” Matev pointed out.
“In less than 24 hours there was as much rain as a whole year. In Florida, the relief is flat and that’s why there were so many floods”, added the expert. Milton killed at least 15 people in Florida. This is according to the latest data of the local authorities. The death toll is expected to rise.
