The Turkish side responded positively to the appointment of an envoy from the UN Secretary-General, said the “hypex” in the occupied territories, Tahsin Ertugruloglou.
“We answered positively to the envoy’s matter, on the condition that no common ground for federation be sought. It will be valid (the appointment of the envoy) for a period of 6 months. The position of the Turkish side is to try to find the common ground on the basis of two states”, said Ertugruloglou speaking in an online broadcast of the “Kimbris Postasi” website.
The real problem, he said, “is that the Greek side is accepted as the Republic of Cyprus and as long as this continues there can be no solution. How will you solve the problem with such a perception?” he asked.
Mr. Ertugruloglou argued that the current status quo in the international arena works against the Turkish Republic and that is why “we have complaints”.
Federation talks will never be on the agenda, he continued, claiming that “the E/C rejected all proposals for cooperation and sharing of cooperation with the T/C”.
He noted that he considers “zero” the “possibility of transitioning to a different policy than that of accepting the ‘sovereign equality’ and the ‘equal international status’ of the ‘tdvc’. The partnership option is gone,” he said.
He also considers “extremely wrong” the attitude of previous “governments” to abandon the idea of the “state”, as he noted.
He also mentioned that nothing is being taught to the youth, in order not to entrench enmity. “If one does not know the price he has paid to get to this point, he cannot know the value of what he has (SS: he means the pseudo-state). It is the wrong attitude not to show who the enemy is. It is good that our young people do not have hostile views, but it is a disadvantage where there is danger,” he argued.
