Youmna Bashir Gemayel wrote, in a post on her account on the “X” platform: “When the regional spokesman for the US State Department, Samuel Werberg, says that ‘a solution must be sought for the Syrian displacement crisis and the United States does not consider that conditions today are suitable for their return to their country’, this means Their resettlement has become a declared American project.”
She continued, “This is what they told us when the Palestinian exodus began and we ended up with a civil war that destroyed Lebanon and for which we paid dearly.”
Gemayel affirmed, “We categorically reject the Syrian refugees remaining in Lebanon. We consider that the majority of areas have become safe in Syria, and we warn the Europeans and the West against the recent wave of displacement.”
She added, “It will inflict direct casualties on you. Your approach to the Syrian displacement issue is disastrous, and its negative repercussions will inevitably not be limited only to the Lebanese arena.”
