Australian farmers are to receive an additional CHF 8.55 million (EUR 9 million) in support for the introduction of advanced networked machines and sensor technologies. This was announced by Australian Minister for Communications, Michelle Rowland.

Connectivity equipment such as antennas, particularly for so-called Low Power Wide Area Networks (LPWAN), is eligible for funding. Technologies for environmental monitoring and farm management are also supported. This includes, for example, weather stations and cameras as well as technology for automating irrigation systems and grain ventilation systems. Other eligible expenditure items are subscriptions to data aggregation platforms and software as well as training costs.
