The tallest residential tower in Brooklyn, known as Brooklyn Point, will open to its residents the swimming pool located at the highest point in the Western Hemisphere.
Designed by world-renowned architectural firm Kohn Pedersen Fox, the pool sits atop the 68-story tower with a facade of oversized windows at 138 Willoughby St.
While it’s nearly twice the height of the 492-foot-tall pool at Singapore’s Marina Bay Sands Hotel, which is located in the eastern hemisphere, it’s not the tallest in the world. The pool that bears that title is located at the Address Beach Resort in Dubai and is located at over 964 feet high.
With panoramic views of the Manhattan skyline, the heated pool will be open to Brooklyn Point residents each year from spring through fall.
The project took more than three years to complete, with construction initially beginning in early 2018.
The pool is surrounded by lounge chairs for sunbathing and socializing on a Brazilian ipe wood deck surrounded by pots full of flowers, shrubs, and even trees.
This is the first development project in Brooklyn for Extell, the same company responsible for the 1,550-foot-tall Central Park Tower.
The pool deck will include outdoor showers, changing rooms, and plenty of space for alfresco dining. It will also have its own star observatory and there will be open-air movie screenings.
Brooklyn Point has 483 luxury apartments ranging from studios to three-bedroom apartments, with the cheapest residence starting at $ 900,000.
Building amenities include the triple-height Park Lounge with a dedicated bar, lounge, fireplace, and co-working space, as well as a chef’s demonstration kitchen, wine library, game room, presentation and screening room, private study , a children’s playroom and a health and wellness center with an indoor saltwater pool.
Other features include a 35-foot climbing wall, yoga studio, infrared sauna, basketball and squash court, playground, landscaped rooftop retreat with sundeck, outdoor dining rooms, changing rooms, showers, a space to screen movies. outdoors and more.
In late 2019, Nets point guard Spencer Dinwiddie bought the building’s attic for $ 3.9 million.
The developers also plan to add a spa equipped with a sauna, men’s and women’s steam rooms, and a hot tub.
