The survey found that the French and Greeks are the most rude drivers in Europe

The French and Greeks are the most rude drivers in Europe, according to a new survey in which drivers described their behavior on the road.

In most European countries, drivers said in the survey that they had become more friendly and cautious on the road than in the previous year. They indicated that they were less likely to insult, trumpet or drive too close to the car in front.

The survey revealed that Greeks (47%) will most often drive in the tail of the car in front, while French (70%) will insult other drivers.

Spaniards (66%), on the other hand, are the fastest to start trumpeting, according to a survey conducted by Ipsos in 11 countries, according to Vinci Autoroutes.

In terms of dangerous behavior on the road, the Greeks came first and the British last.

Overall, 88% of European drivers admitted that they sometimes exceed the speed limit, which is one percent less than in 2019. 61% of respondents admitted that they do not observe a safe distance, which is three percent less than last year.

Swedes most often drive too fast or too close to another car, or keep their eyes off the road. Dutch drivers, on the other hand, are most likely to overtake in lanes intended for slower traffic, according to a survey.

However, it is a positive finding that only two of the 14 dangerous driving indicators have come into force – talking on the phone and installing GPS while driving.

A fifth of drivers, which is one percent more than in 2019, admitted to getting out of their car to explain themselves to another driver. Most often – 37% – this is what Poles did.

A fifth of French and 16% of all drivers surveyed said they were no longer the same people behind the wheel. They acknowledged that they were becoming more nervous, impulsive and aggressive.

Data published by the European Union (EU) show that in 2019, approximately 22,800 people lost their lives in road accidents in 27 bloc countries. This is about 7,000 deaths or 23% less than in 2010.

Compared to 2018, the number of deaths has decreased by 2%.

Although the number of fatal road accidents continues to decline, progress has slowed down in most countries since 2013.
