A Reddit user has lifted the curtain on Starfield’s economy, which is balanced in Bethesda’s “best” tradition. You can buy a spaceship in the game by selling a relatively small amount of food. All data is taken from the gameplay demo shown by the company itself
A burger sandwich that restores 15 health points costs 295 credits. One of the spaceships costs 15,950 credits – about the same as 54 sandwiches. Either spaceships have become very cheap, or food in an inhospitable future is worth its weight in gold.
If your budget is very limited, you can buy another ship, for 7,375 credits – 25 sandwiches. It is also the cost of 98 packs of orange juice, 48 steaks, or 210 slices of toast.
The most mysterious food is Trilo bites. A dish of beetles resembling fossilized terrestrial trilobites costs a whopping 750 credits. 10 such dishes – and you have a spaceship. Such a price makes one think about the origin, composition and beneficial properties of these beetles.
In fairness, it must be said that traditionally for Bethesda games, the purchase price in the store is significantly different from the sale price of loot. But even if you manage to sell food for a tenth of the cost shown in the video, space flights are still abnormally cheap.
