The Surprising Appearance of Kang and the Infected Actor Brad Wolfe in Loki Season 2 – A Connection to the Comics

He’s already briefly seen in the trailer, but has a clear history in the MCU comic books.

Now that it is clear that Kang (Jonathan Majors) will appear in the latest season of Loki, the reveal of this villain is a surprise. Zaniac, aka fictional actor Brad Wolfe (Rafael Casal), bumps into Loki and Sylvie.

It was previously known that Casal would have a role in season 2. The fact that this concerns the role of Brad Wolfe/Zaniac has caused quite a bit of speculation among fans.

Infection and nuclear accident

In the Marvel comics, Brad Wolfe is an actor who makes a movie entitled Zaniac!. Wolfe plays the role of serial killer Zaniac, who targets female victims as a result of a traumatic childhood. There is a parallel in this with Wolfe’s own backstory, which is also why he took the role.

However, without realizing it, Wolfe has been infected by a parasite from the Dark Dimension. This parasite roams around in time and space, always bringing out the worst in the victim. In the comic, the infected Wolfe is ultimately the victim of a nuclear blast. The combination literally transforms his character into the monstrous Zaniac.

Background from the comics

In the trailer we see Casal as Wolfe getting out of a car at the premiere of Zaniac!. In other words, the series seems to stick to the background in the comics, giving Loki a formidable and dangerous opponent in addition to Kang.

Season 2 of Loki can be seen from October 6 on Disney+.
