The Supreme Court upheld the order to reinstate the dismissed officer from the Aegis office

The Central Administrative Tribunal had quashed the dismissal in 2010 on a petition filed by Manuel against it. In 2018, a division bench of the High Court dismissed the petition filed by the Center against the tribunal’s order. The Supreme Court rejected the petition filed by the Center and the C&AG against this. The appeal was dismissed stating that there was no need to interfere with the High Court judgment.

Although the reinstatement was ordered, the High Court did not agree to Manuel’s request to direct him to pay the salary for the period during which the action was taken. The salary was denied on the grounds that he was a member of the staff of ministers and opposition leaders after his dismissal. The Supreme Court also rejected the petition filed by Manuel against this. K. A. Senior Advocate Jaideep Gupta and Advocate Bina Madhavan appeared in the Supreme Court for Manuel.
