The support of those in the front line to those who are still ahead. Security forces pay tribute to health professionals – Obse …

This Friday, security forces and firefighters paid tribute to all health professionals, especially those who have been directly involved in the combating Covid-19. The ceremony that took place in various parts of the country brought together two of the professional classes most exposed to the risk of contagion.

The six hospitals involved in this initiative were visited by a column of vehicles from all the forces that joined the ceremony. After the delivery of a tribute plaque to doctors, nurses, assistants and other hospital support staff, the national anthem was played. But the most heard, from the north to the south of the country, were applause.

Finished the press conference after the Council of Ministers, which also took place this Friday, the Minister Eduardo Cabrita joined this tribute at Hospital Dr. Fernando da Fonseca, where he made a point of speaking to journalists to ensure that the Health and safety have never been more united”. He also explained that the “effort” that all Portuguese will have to make in the next two weeks of “significant restrictions”, is fundamental to “mitigate the effects of the pandemic”, and gradually allow for a “gradual return to normality”, said the Minister Internal Administration.

In Lisbon, next to the Dona Estefânia Hospital, Magina da Silva, national director of the Public Security Police, did not forget the health professionals temporarily removed from the services because they are infected with the new coronavirus: “This is a very meaningful gesture to all health professionals who are on the front line. It is true that we are several in the front line, but some are ahead, and without a doubt they are the health professionals. Unfortunately, I believe there are more than 2100 infected professionals, which demonstrates well the work they have been doing. And we, as security forces, would not feel well unless we paid this felt tribute ”.
