When Nintendo and Universal Pictures released a new trailer for The Super Mario Bros. Movie in November, the film suddenly had a new date. Instead of 7 April, the premiere was brought forward in some countries, and here in Norway it was expected in cinemas on 24 March.
A short trailer for the Super Mario movie appeared during the Super Bowl.
Now the date has changed again.
As among other things Filmweb.no melder has the film’s Norwegian premiere on April 7, which was the original plan. The date has also been changed in other countries, where some still seem to be getting the film early. For example, it comes on April 5 in France, Belgium and New Zealand.
New trailer on the way
As a band-aid, eager fans can look forward to a new trailer for the film. This will be unveiled in a separate Nintendo Direct broadcast on 9 March, from 23:00 Norwegian time.
Via Twitter Nintendo points out that the broadcast will only be about the Mario movie. Game fans should therefore lower their expectations, as the Japanese company is not going to share any news about games.
The Direct presentation is another part of Nintendo’s ramping up of marketing for The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Recently, the film appeared during the Super Bowl, with a commercial packed with references to the old TV series The Super Mario Bros. Super Show. You can see this on the right of the article.
