The next attempt to film the Super Mario games has gone awry. The movie – just called Super Mario Bros. – will now only be launched next year, Nintendo reports.
According to the plan, Super Mario Bros. originally released in December 2022, but as Mario’s dad Shigeru Miyamoto told via Nintendo of America’s Twitter account, that is no longer the case. Exactly why did not come forward.
– This is Miyamoto. After talking to [produsent Chris Meledandri] – my partner on the Super Mario Bros. movie at Illumination – we have decided to move the global launch date to the spring of 2023. I strongly apologize, but promise that it will be worth the wait.
The article continues below the Twitter message.
In North America, the film will be released on April 7, while it arrives in Japan three weeks later – April 28. A European release date has not yet been set.
The animated Super Mario movie was officially unveiled last fall, and created a lot of uproar for the choice of actor for Mario. Chris Pratt gives his voice to the Italian plumber, while Luigi and Princess Peach are played by Charlie Day and Anya Taylor-Joy, respectively.
