END SOON: There will still be usable temperatures in Southern Norway and Eastern Norway in the future, but the super heat is over for this year.

The highest temperatures seem to be over for this year. Southern and Eastern Norway will be the weekend’s weather winners, but there may be snow in the mountains.

Despite the fact that the period with the hottest temperatures is over in Norway for now, there will still be usable weather in southern Norway and in eastern Norway in the future, meteorologist on duty Marit Berger at the Meteorological Institute tells NTB.

– Going forward, there won’t be any super heat, like we had earlier this summer. The highest temperatures are probably over, says Berger.

Night frost and snow expected

We have barely managed to write the month of August, when there seems to be a chance of snow in southern Norway. Admittedly, it won’t arrive in the lowlands anytime soon.

– There is a possibility of snow in the mountains in southern Norway at the weekend, says Berger.

– There will also be opportunities for night frost in the mountains and at altitude, she says.

KING WINTER: The snow may return to the mountains soon.

Although it will not be super hot in southern Norway in the future, it is southern and eastern Norway that will be the weekend’s weather winners.

– It will be Southern and Eastern Norway that will have the best weather at the weekend, with temperatures of up to 20 degrees during the day and the greatest chance of sun, says Berger.

This weekend’s weather losers

For Western Norway, Møre og Romsdal and Trøndelag, the weekend looks set to be grayer and colder than in Southern and Eastern Norway.

– Western Norway will get more gray weather towards the weekend, and have a greater chance of rain. The same applies to Møre and Romsdal and Trøndelag, says Berger.

– Further north it will be wet and gray towards the weekend. Both in Nordland and in Troms and Finnmark, says Berger.

The coldest day looks set to be Saturday, and temperatures look to be fairly similar from Western Norway to the north.

– On Saturday, it looks like it will be just under ten degrees in Western Norway, Trøndelag and further north, says Berger.
