Périgueux hospital has received its super-freezer! This refrigerated device, blocked at -80 degrees Celsius, will be able to accommodate the doses of Pfizer BioNTech vaccines for all of Périgord. The craft is 2 meters high and is “large enough to receive all the necessary doses for the GFT (Groupement hospitalier de territoire). Now that he’s on duty, all that’s left is to be “qualified” : “The Cofrac (French accreditation committee, editor’s note) will come and check that it is installed and that the temperatures are compliant. This will be done next week”. The freezer will be authorized to receive doses if the green light is given by Cofrac.
The delivery of vaccines to establishments is organized, once the exact number of residents and staff wishing to be vaccinated is known. Once thawed, this vaccine must be administered within 5 days.

According to the Périgueux hospital, the device is very secure : “It records temperatures continuously and is under alarm. It is also stored in a secret place for confidentiality reasons” assures Stéphanie Jonas.
