The Suns snapped the six-game win streak Raptors: were imposed by 99-95 at Scotiabank Arena.
Monty Williams’ team came back strong at the end of a close match to win another victory. Chris Paul (16 points) and Devin Booker (15) didn’t have great offensive performances, but each made a jump shot from midrange in the final minute to hold the lead.
Those led by Nick Nurse cannot be questioned for their attitude and effort. They dominated the paint (22 to 10 in offensive rebounds, 59 to 47 in total) and caused 20 turnovers, but ended up paying dearly for their lack of effectiveness: 40% from the field, 21% from three-pointers and 60% from free kicks.
Still, they showed why they are such a dangerous team and even with two sensitive casualties like Gary Trent Jr. and Scottie Barnes they played equal to equal to the NBA runner-up. Pascal Siakam confirmed his great present and flirted with the triple-double (22-7-7), while OG Anunoby (25) and Fred VanVleet (21) combined for 46 points.
Phoenix (31-9) has won four of its last five games and regained the lead in the Western Conference, while Toronto (20-18) fell to eighth in the Eastern Conference.
