The games don’t end until they are over. The stupidest topic in sport was real last night in New Orleans, where the Pelicans fell to the Phoenix Suns 132-114 after curdling a horrible last quarter and throwing the game overboard.
Those of Alvin Gentry had made a great meeting during the 36 minutes that lasted the first three quarters. Nevertheless, the last round was a terrible debacle for New Orleans who saw the Suns run over them with a partial 41-12.
Phoenix’s choral play stood out again Above all, one more night, with his stellar trio leading the way but without taking center stage. Until six players exceeded 13 points last night for the Arizonans.
Devin Booker was the top scorer again, scoring 23 points this time, with great effectiveness. He followed Jae Crowder with 20 points and a spread of +29 that completely destroyed the Pelicans. The quintet with the forward was unstoppable for their rivals.
Two players who also stood out were DeAndre Ayton, with a double-double of 16 points and 16 rebounds and Chris Paul. The point guard showed that he still has a lot of rope left and led the comeback of his team adding 15 points and 19 assists!
In the Pelicans they saw overtaken by the gale of the Suns in the last 12 minutes. Unable to react, they gave up a bloody partial from which they could not recover. Brandon Ingram’s 25 points or Zion Williamson’s 23 were useless this time.
The forward was one of those who ate that partial against with Josh Hart o J.J. Redick. The outer three were on the track when the beast’s awakening came and they were surprised by the level that Phoenix had not shown up to that point.
Willy Hernangómez returned to being the titlery played 23 minutes of play, achieving 9 points and 13 rebounds, in the absence of Steven Adams. The Spaniard once again made the most of his opportunity and once again proved his worth in a less than optimal situation.
