Investigation work continues after the terrible incident near Palermo on the island of Sicily, in which a luxury yacht sank after a rainstorm.
Despite the strong winds and rough seas, the captain decided to sail. There were 22 passengers on board. 15 of them were saved.
Five people are still missing.
Among them is the British businessman Mike Lynch, known as the English Bill Gates, who owned a yacht. They are also looking for his daughter Hannah, who is 18 years old, and the family lawyer, who was on board with his wife.
Also missing is Jonathan Bloomer, chairman of the large international financial group Morgan Stanley.
The magnificent 56-metre-long Bayesian yacht is stuck in rough seas and her 75-metre aluminum mast breaks. The yacht, which was built in 2008, capsized and sank in the water.
In 2011, billionaire Miles Lynch sold his company Autonomy to Hewlett Packard for $11 billion. And the media called him “Bill Gates in England”.
Among those rescued are his wife – 57-year-old Angela Bacares, the captain and a one-year-old baby with his parents.
Angela Baccares told the Italian newspaper Repubblica that she and her husband woke up at 4am when the boat suddenly “tilted”.
She didn’t care at the moment, but she still got up to see what was going on. Then one of the yacht’s windows breaks and causes confusion on board.
His legs were injured by Bacares – probably when he stepped on broken glass when he sank. Other parts of her body are also affected.
According to reports, there were mostly Britons on board, but also people from New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Ireland, Canada and the USA.
Some are said to be colleagues and family members who were on holiday together in Sicily.
Helicopters flew over the area where the incident took place. The coast guard, fire brigade divers and carabinieri are now trying to reach the wreck of the yacht, which is less than a kilometer from the shore and at a depth of 49 metres.

Drowned in the cottages
According to CNN, search teams have found the body of a man on board the ship – possibly the yacht’s chef.
Other missing persons may have drowned in their cabins. Divers say they have already seen bodies in the huts through poles.

“I was screaming for help. But all I heard was other people’s screams.”
His 35-year-old mother managed to save her child.
“I lost my baby in the sea for two seconds, and I brought him back in my arms immediately while the waves were raging. I held her away with my strength,” Charlotte shares of her 1-year-old.
“It was very dark. I called for help. But all I heard around me was the screams of others,” said the woman.
