Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The sun always shines on the Earth every day until now. But what would happen if the Sun died and stopped shining on Earth?
If that scenario happens, it’s likely that humans on Earth won’t know about it until about 8.5 minutes later. Because nothing travels faster than light including the pull of gravity, and we don’t notice anything is missing.
But next the Sun will suddenly disappear and the Earth will be shrouded in darkness. Then the planet will travel into interstellar space at a speed of 18 miles per second, quoted from Futurism, Tuesday (28/9/2021).
Two seconds later, the Moon, which normally reflects sunlight, also darkens. Including planets in the solar system that flashes visible on Earth also stops reflecting sunlight.
Then the temperature on Earth will drop and begin to freeze. Futurism notes that it takes millions of years for the Earth to solidify but at the surface the temperature will drop below 0 degrees Celsius in the first week and minus 100 degrees Celsius in the first year.
Furthermore, the temperature will stabilize at minus 240 degrees Celsius for several million years, while geothermal energy is still working.
Photosynthesis normally aided by the sun will also stop, and the entire plant will die. Most Species also only survive for a short time before being wiped out.
Furthermore, the human population will also be wiped out. Some of them choose to move to near the center of the Earth and live from geothermal energy.
Then the Earth will freeze and become a solid and frozen lump of rock and walk in space.
