“The Sun Rose for Me”: A Soulful Song of Liberation and Meaning by Laura Leontyeva

Laura Leontieva says: “This is a deeply personal story for me about the eternal crawling out of the mud, self-acceptance, self-liberation from shoulder-heavy, often inherited and newly accumulated burdens. From the darkness and oppression that our entire nation has gone through. I hope that the song will invite and strengthen a relentless pursuit of inner light and peace. In the end, let us realize in ourselves that our existence has meaning if only because we live, create and feel this earth within us. “I hoped to keep my father’s land while I was alive,” these words of the folk song evoked a special impulse in me.”

The song was written for the Saulkrasti Choir “ANIMA”, soloist Elīna Ose and percussionist Miķelis Vīte. Sound director Kaspars Bārbals.

The picturesque video story was created by Ritvars Bluka, Ivars Burtnieks and Laura Leontyeva.

“The sun rose for me” is available on all major streaming sites.
