Asuncion, Nov. 13 Sol de América were relegated to Paraguay’s Second Division football this Sunday after a goalless draw with General Caballero JLM, which secured the last ticket in dispute for the 2023 Copa Sudamericana.
The day after Olimpia was crowned champion of the Torneo Clausura of Paraguayan football, the twenty-second round concluded with matches for General Caballero JLM and Sol de América, Sportivo Ameliano and Guaraní, as well as Resistencia and 12 de Octubre.
After a goalless match, Sol de América finished in the Intermediate Division with 21 points which left them in tenth place.
The 4-2 victory of Sportivo Ameliano over Guaraní and the 0-0 draw of Resistencia with 12 de Octubre played against El Danzarín’s aspirations.
Ameliano, fresh from the 2-0 against Guaraní, was saved with the victory of relegation.
In addition, he capped off a season in which he won the Copa Paraguay on his Prima Divisione debut, a title that gave him the pass to the Copa Sudamericana in 2022.
The other Paraguayan representatives in that regional tournament will be Guaraní, Tacuary and General Caballero JLM ranked today.
The team from the city of Itaguá, 12 de Octubre, which finished in the last place of the table, with 12 units, will also go to the Second Division.
For Paraguay, Libertad and Olimpia, champions of the Apertura and Clausura tournaments respectively, who secured their direct ticket to the group stage, qualified for the Copa Libertadores.
For its part, Cerro Porteño will start in phase 2 and Nacional in cycle 1 of the Libertadores.
