The Summer Festival in the Olympic Park | Olympic Park Munich

For decades it has been a Munich holiday classic for the whole family: the Summer Festival in the Olympic Park. This year, adults and children alike can look forward to 17 wonderful days full of diverse and varied activities from August 9th to 25th.

As always, the stalls and rides of Munich showmen provide entertainment and thrills, and the food stands invite you to feast and enjoy culinary delicacies from all over the world. As in the previous year, sporting and creative activities await the young festival guests in the children’s area on the roof of the Small Olympic Hall.

“I’m really looking forward to the summer festival! It marks the end of a series of very successful events that we, the Olympic Park team, will be organizing ourselves in 2024. The program of our holiday classic, which we are presenting to the people of Munich and their families, once again offers lots of fun and entertainment with themed weekends, well-known and beloved attractions and completely new offers,” says Olympic Park boss Marion Schöne. And Mayor Verena Dietl explains: “The summer festival, whose patronage I was very happy to take on again this year, is a wonderful holiday offer for all Munich families and guests from all over the world. It is hard to imagine Munich’s range of events without it. There really is something for everyone here. But children in particular can experience a lot here and spend eventful days in the beautiful Olympic Park.”

To kick things off, from August 9th to 11th, there will be plenty of home-town feeling under the motto “Bavaria & Culture”. Among other things, on this themed weekend, traditional costume groups will present traditional Bavarian dances, breweries will lead their magnificent carriages through the Olympic Park six weeks before the start of the Oktoberfest, and there will also be Schafkopf courses. On August 11th, there will be a farmers’ market with regional specialties and, of course, the ever-popular Dachshund Day for all dogs and their owners. From August 15th to 18th, everyone who wants to let their creativity run wild will get their money’s worth at “Selfmade & Arts and Crafts”. With handicrafts and painting, courses and workshops for ceramics and screen printing, for bracelets and macrame. At the end of the theme weekends, from August 23rd to 25th, “Body & Mind” will focus on the holistic unity of body, mind and soul, on sport and health, on self-care and mindfulness: with HIIT & Core, Sunset Yoga, SUP Yoga and much more at the Workout|side powered by Blackroll on the peninsula, but also with new trend sports such as Air Badminton and Street Racket.

If you just want to chill out with a cool drink in a relaxed environment, the Capri Bar on the peninsula in the Olympic Lake is the right place for you. Reduced prices on the rides are available on the two children’s Tuesdays on August 13th and 20th, before the traditional fireworks light up the sky above the park on the evening of August 23rd.
