The judge sentenced the 17-year-old to 9 years and 9 months, the 15-year-old to 9 years and 4 months and the 16-year-old girl to 6 years and 8 months. The Juvenile Court therefore accepted the thesis of the prosecutor Emma Avezzù, who contested the attempted murder of the three young defendants.
Mauro’s father, Giuseppe Glorioso, who was present at the verdict, speaks of a “balanced sentence”: “I hope that with this sentence the kids, even those in the baby gangs, realize that you can’t play with life and that when you make a mistake, you seriously risk. My son won’t go back to the way he was, but kids need to understand that actions have consequences.”

For the lawyer Michele Ianniello – who assists the 17-year-old – “the legal case does not end here. I asked for the precautionary measure to be revoked, because in my opinion the risk of recurrence of the crime feared by the Public Prosecutor’s Office can also be contained with house arrest”. The boy has read a letter in which he explains that he feels “disgust and shame” and asks for a second chance “to prove that he is not the monster that has been described”.
Abbreviated procedure
In particular, the magistrate had asked for 13 years in prison for the 17-year-old and 9 years for the 15-year-old boy and the girl. The trial took place in an abbreviated procedure.
The episode dates back to January 21 of this year. The five friends, after spending an evening among the clubs of Turin’s nightlife, lifted an electric bike by throwing it from the balustrade of Lungo Po Cadorna. In the pitch below Mauro Glorioso was in line with some friends at The Beach. The bicycle came crashing down on him, hitting him on the head and neck. The young man is still hospitalized in a long-term care centre.
In addition to the minors, who answer for attempted murder, there is an 18-year-old boy in prison, while another girl is under house arrest.
