The French lost in three sets on Wednesday to American Sebastian Korda.

The step was too high. Richard Gasquet was beaten by Sebastian Korda (7-6, 6-3, 6-3), Wednesday May 25, during the second round of Roland-Garros. Facing an American far from impressive, the native of Béziers thought he was hanging on, after the tie-break of the first set. But the clinical forehands of the 21-year-old Floridian got the better of the Frenchman, who was overtaken in the back of the court.
The Frenchman, 70th in the world, has not passed the second round since 2018, when he lost in the 3rd round against the Spaniard Rafael Nadal. Sebastian Korda will face another Iberian player, to try to climb into the eighth, in the person of Carlos Alcaraz (19 years old).
