The Sumenep Health Office recorded 134 people infected with DHF

Madura Raya (ANTARA) – Head of the Sumenep Health and Family Planning Agency (Dinkes-KB) Agus Mulyono said 134 people were undergoing treatment at a number of health facilities in the area due to dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF).

“This number has increased sharply compared to 2022 in the same period,” he said in Sumenep, Monday.

In January 2022 the number of residents in the easternmost district of Madura Island who were attacked by DHF was 36 people, while in 2021 in the same month there were 27 people.

“There is an increasing trend, from 27 people in 2021 to 36 people in 2022 and in 2023 this has increased sharply to 134 people,” he said.

According to him, the increase in DHF cases has occurred, partly because there are more and more causes of the disease, so efforts are needed to eradicate the causes.

“Dengue fever is caused by mosquito bites, namely mosquitoes Temples of the Egyptians. Therefore, efforts that can be made to prevent DHF cases from increasing, include the Mosquito Nest Eradication Movement (PSN) through 3M Plus,” he said.

He explained what 3M plus meant by draining water reservoirs, tightly closing all water reservoirs, reusing used waste that had economic value (recycling), and preventing mosquito bites.

“Then another effort is to carry out fumigation in places where there are confirmed cases of dengue fever,” said Agus.

His party has instructed all puskesmas officers spread across 27 island and mainland sub-districts in Sumenep Regency to actively socialize to the community about the importance of maintaining cleanliness by doing the 3M plus.
