One of the most beautiful Ferraris ever was rejected by a sultan and its value skyrocketed.
Owning a Ferrari is the dream of everyone in the world, even when you are so rich and powerful that you have become the sultan of a state. Brunei is a small Asian nation that received independence from Great Britain only in 1984, but which has a strong sense of patriotism and a lot of respect towards its sultan.

As long as this nation has existed, the sultan has always been Hassanal Bolkiah. The latter ascended the throne of Brunei on 5 October 196, when he was only 21 years old following his father’s abdication. His figure was decisive for independence and is a well-known and loved figure in the nation.
For this reason even the largest car manufacturers have tried to pay homage to him in some way. One of these was the manager of the dealership Ferrari in Singaporethat is to say Alfred Tan. In 1994 his idea was to give the sultan what would have been in all respects a one-of-a-kind version of the Cavallino.
It was one 512 TR Spider convertible. An absolute novelty also because this unique model was born directly from Ferrari. Everyone would have been enthusiastic in front of this enchanting model, but we know that a sultan is not a person like all the others and in fact he surprisingly refused the gift.

In this case, the car was a jewel of rare beauty and would thus have allowed the already sensational collection of cars present in the sultan’s garage to be improved and perfected even further. This car comes with a 4900 displacement V12 engine and this allowed you to touch the 300 km/h as the maximum peak.

Very good also with regards to acceleration, in fact from 0 to 100 km/h he needed alone 4.8 seconds. The color was a midnight blue and the Ferrari decided to produce a maximum of three units. Once Tan arrived in the sultan’s presence, however, there was not the desired result, in fact that car that would have bewitched anyone did not have the desired effect.
In fact, one of the three models was unable to sell, as the cost was probably truly prohibitive for many. So, after 29 years of time, the time has come to put this car on the market and to be able to valorise vintage cars in the best possible way, auctions are the best solutions.
The car was in fact new, just think of how only 570 kilometers were traveled during its history. In the last period they have improved it with the oil and tire changes. The market price at which it will be sold is not yet certain, but according to the well-known agency RM Sotheby’swhere the auction will be held on November 4, 2023, the market value will be between 2.4 and 3.1 million Euros. Who knows, maybe now the Sultan of Brunei regrets not having purchased this four-wheeled marvel.
