The Suite Tango concert presented at Vitrail this Sunday

The Espace Culturel le Vitrail will host the Suite Tango concert featuring cellist Stéphane Tétreault and bandoneist Denis Plante. This original and warm concert will take place on Sunday, January 29 at 2 p.m. A program of great virtuosity will be offered to the spectators.

These two Quebecers from the international music scene are teaming up for a new foray into the world of tango. The unusual duo tackles the Tango Suite: six original pieces inspired by JS Bach’s Suites for solo cello where scholarly music is slumped and the tango becomes dizzying. Stéphane Tétreault, warmly received and acclaimed last year, returns to Thetford Mines in a new duo. People will be able to discover the moving works in the company of two exceptional musicians.

Stéphane Tétreault, recipient of countless awards and honours, is the recipient of the 2019 Virginia Parker Prize from the Canada Council for the Arts in recognition of his exceptional talent, musicality and artistic excellence, as well as his valuable contribution to artistic life in Canada. and abroad. Moreover, he plays on the Stradivarius cello “Countess of Stainlein, ExPaganini” from 1707, which was generously lent to him by Madame Sophie Desmarais.

Denis Plante is the essential bandoneon artist in Canada and a singular face of contemporary tango on the international scene. He plays one of the famous bandoneons of the doble A series, the essential instrument of Argentine tango.
