the success of a Tarn idea

T-shirts, sweatshirts or aprons with a very simple screen printing: a graphic which evokes large destinations associated with smaller ones. The idea was launched by two Albigensians. In two months 96 stores have already been won over by their products.

The idea came to him while looking at his daughter’s pajamas on which Paris New-York Tokyo was inscribed. “How about adding a small town, like Albi?” Or Saint-Lary, Montauban or Saint-Gaudens? ”. This is what Henrique Thouvenin said to himself. He went to share this idea with a friend, owner of a souvenir shop at the foot of Albi Cathedral.

With a graphic designer they worked on typography and design. They then tested their concept in the Albigensian boutique, and the T-shirts quickly sold out. After registering their brand, Kapitales, they offered their products in other stores, first in Tarn, then in Aveyron, Haute-Garonne, the Pyrenees, the Alps …

Screen-printed in the Tarn

4000 pieces have now been produced in the Tarn and sold in less than two months. They are made in Saint-Juéry in a printing house. The technique used is that of screen printing. The method remains artisanal since several layers of paints are passed by hand. The rooms are then heated under lamps.

The Albigensians did not expect to have such a request in such a short time. A Parisian industrialist specializing in culinary even contacted them to offer them a contract. He is seduced by their aprons on which are declined not cities but culinary specialties, paella, couscous, sushi and cassoulet for example. Nothing has been done yet, but the people of Tarn are already dreaming of seeing their products sold in New York or Tokyo.
