The subsidy will not be permanently lifted … Electricity reveals the date of the new increase

An official source at the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy announced that the electricity prices in Egypt are still lower than the global price, adding that the prices are linked to consumption and the dollar exchange rate, and that the increase in electricity bills will be on the annual date, starting from next July.

Also, the value of the increase will be announced in next June. The source indicated that the ministry is raising operating efficiency and reducing fuel consumption rates so that a lot of money will be saved, and electricity subsidies will not be permanently lifted.

Electricity segment prices in 2020/2021 will be as follows:

• The first bracket is from zero to 50 kilowatts for 38 piasters instead of 30 piasters.
• The second bracket is from 51 to 100 kilowatts for 48 piasters instead of 40 piasters.
• The third bracket: From zero to 200 kilowatts, for 65 piasters instead of 50 piasters.
• The fourth bracket: From 201 to 350 kilowatts, for 96 piasters instead of 82 piasters.
• Fifth bracket: From 351 to 650 kilowatts, at 118 piasters instead of 100.
• Sixth bracket: From 651 to 1,000 kilowatts, for 140 piasters.
• The seventh bracket from zero to less than 1000 kilowatts will not receive a subsidy of 118 piasters.
• From zero to more than 1000, 145 piasters.
