Ben started his own business at the age of 74. As a teenager he wanted to go to the Kleinkunst Academie, but his father pushed him towards spectacles. Father Akkerman was an optician himself and had his own shop in eyewear fashion. Ben’s interest was aroused and nurtured, which was the beginning of a life starring frames. If it’s up to Ben, you see the glasses first and then the man.

Style icon Arno Kantelberg is a journalist, presenter, and for many years was editor-in-chief of magazines such as Esquire and National Geographic. He is currently the publisher of men’s magazine ModMod, lifestyle expert at RTL Boulevard and style columnist at De Volkskrant.
