In a conversation with “What’s New”, Aivars Vilipsons asks rhetorically: “Why should I be worse than Charlie Chaplin?” and adds that the walking stick is a “very nice” accessory. If initially the artist walked with a cane to be able to lean on it because of his sore leg due to an Achilles tendon injury, now it has become an integral element of his everyday style. Vilipsōn believes that the cane definitely beautifies him and this element of style has become his “second self”.

Vilipsōns walks the streets with a cane in his daily activities and attends social events and his clients, cooperation partners. The artist laughs that the cane also serves him as a protection against those couriers who very quickly and recklessly drive through the streets of Riga on scooters: “If I have a cane, I can defend my rights on the street. They are really crazy driving! If I still manage, then I feel sorry for older people, because these cyclists are no longer worth it. If I meet such a reckless driver, then I will – whoops – cane him! In Paris, cars like this are already banned, but by the time we get to that point, I’ll probably be in the sand.”
There are already eight walking sticks in Aivars Vilipsōn’s collection, some of which were also given by friends. One is said to be particularly stylish – with a lion’s head, open mouth, and turquoise eyes. On the other hand, the black cane bought by his wife Indra is said to be especially sweet. “So I’m equipped with walking sticks. And if I already have a collection of teddy bears, then why can’t I also have sticks,” states the artist.
