The strongest Czechs beat Venezuela and are in the semi-finals – Sport.cz

Coach Romana Ptáčková’s players were confident that they would advance from the group even before the final match against Venezuela. Definitive confirmation was given by South Korea’s victory over Mali, and they could lose money against the South American team. But despite that, the Czechs did not let the game go.

Even the start of the duel did not put the agents away. Due to the fall of the Mali player from the previous game and waiting for an ambulance, the opening whistle of the game between the Czech players and Venezuela was heard thirty minutes later. And a longer stop seemed to kick both units.

The Venezuelan women took the lead after three unsuccessful attacks by the Czechs, but in the opening minutes the score went from one side to the other and both teams scored well. The opponents lost even the first shot in the fourth minute, and the shooting success of the Czech opponents then began to weaken. Nevertheless, the ten minute session, full of points, yielded an incredible 49 points.

The Czech players entered the second part with a lead of eleven points and only proved their dominance. Even before halftime, they increased their lead, allowed Venezuela just six points and went to the locker room with a comfortable twenty-two cushion.

In the second half, the opponents were already looking for a recipe for a proper Czech defense. The Czechs defended all over the place, attacked them, forced the Venezuelans to make mistakes with their game, and it was clear that the game was under their control.

Romany Ptáčková’s wards got their third victory in Mexico. All twelve players of the Czech bench participated in the game and all of them contributed to the victory by shooting. In the last quarter, the Czechs were able to slow down and maintain their strength.

From group A, the Czech players advanced from first place. South Korea will join them in the semi-final stage of the tournament. The Czechs will play the semi-finals at night from Saturday to Sunday. But they have to wait for the opposition. They will be the defeated team from the night game Mexico – Montenegro.
