The Strathmore Rose Tiara: A Royal Wedding Gift and Symbol of Elegance

The Strathmore Rose Tiara was a wedding gift given to the Queen Mother by her father, Lord Strathmore, before she married the Duke of York in 1923. The diamond flower tiara was purchased from a London jeweler Catchpole & Williams.

It can be worn in a number of ways, either as a tiara on the head, or it can be taken apart to form five separate pins.

The Princess of Wales wore a white Jenny Packham dress with matching long white gloves. Two special insignia or orders were pinned to the dress. One of them is the Order of the Royal Family of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty bestows this honor on female members of the royal family, who wear it on special occasions such as state banquets or the annual diplomatic reception at Buckingham Palace.
