The Department of Finance, Human Resources and External Affairs (DF) carries out activities of a strategic nature which affect the whole of the State and the population. It provides most of the funding for the Canton’s services through taxation and the collection of taxes. The General Directorate of State Finance oversees the appropriate allocation of public funds and budget planning. The State personnel office ensures the proper management of human resources. The DF also includes the cantonal prosecution office, the cantonal bankruptcy office, the cantonal statistics office and the office for the promotion of equality and the prevention of violence.
